Acaraje is a Brazilian food recipe of bean fritters with shrimp.
  • 2 cups canned kidney beans, drained
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 chili pepper
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • oil for deep-frying
  • 20 pieces dried shrimp
  1. Puree the beans, onion, chili, salt, and pepper in a food processor. Form into 20 small balls, pressing a dried shrimp partly into the center of each. (You should still see the shrimp.)
  2. Heat oil over medium heat and fry balls in small batches until golden.
  3. Drain and keep warm.
